Release time:2017-04-29

Machine vision is to use machines instead of human eyes for measurement and judgment. Typical machine vision systems can be divided into: board-type machine vision systems and embedded machine vision systems (smart cameras).

In 2015, the global machine vision market was approximately US$4.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 10.5%. Among them, the United States is the world's largest machine vision market, with a market share of more than 50%; Japan follows closely behind.

China's machine vision industry started late and its market base is small, but its development speed is fast (entering a period of rapid development after 2009), and it has become the world's third largest machine vision market after the United States and Japan. In 2015, its market size was 2.2 billion yuan (about 350 million U.S. dollars), accounting for 8.3% of the global market, and its growth rate was 22.2%, which was higher than the global average. From 2016 to 2020, driven by Made in China 2025, the growth rate of China's machine vision market is expected to remain at around 20%.

China's machine vision systems are mainly used in the semiconductor and electronic manufacturing fields (up to 46.4% in 2015), of which the more prominent ones are SMT patches, AOI/AXI equipment and connector inspection. In addition, the main application areas also include automobiles, pharmaceuticals, etc. The proportions of applications in these two areas were 10.9% and 9.7% respectively in 2015.

Most foreign machine vision manufacturers basically have advantages in the industry chain from core components (light source, lens, camera, image capture card, image processing software, etc.) to system integration, while Chinese manufacturers do not have advantages in the software and hardware markets (The hardware is mainly purchased out), so most of them are concentrated on machine vision system integration and equipment manufacturing.

At present, the machine vision manufacturers of the United States and Japan are absolutely leading in the world. Among them, Keyence Japan ranks first in the industry in terms of industrial scale and market share, with a market share of 12.7% in 2015. Unlike the international market, China's machine vision industry has not yet formed a clear competitive landscape. Therefore, in order to seize the machine vision market, a number of listed companies began to deploy machine vision business in 2015.
